Everyone needs their own space – somewhere where you can relax and enjoy your free time in peace. A private spot where you can unwind, work out, read a book or do a mindful practice. Once you start thinking about creating your special corner or making your home a yoga house, there are a fraction of things that you can immediately change for the better.
The goal here is to find inner peace the moment you step into your home. If a warm feeling and a positive glow are what you are looking to achieve, then you have come to the right place. Feeling ready to take things a step further and deepen your connection with yourself is a great way to start feeling happier and healthier.
So, today we are looking into a few inspirational ideas for creating a home design that connects well with yoga. Let’s dive right into it, shall we?
One of the most essential bits of creating a yoga house is to take a look at what surrounds you. At one moment, you will find yourself standing in the middle of a room crammed with things you don’t need. That is when you realize it is time to de-clutter the space.
Cleaning the space is an important process for you to go through. Each time you enter your home, you should be welcomed by a feeling of peace and serenity. These practices are used as an inspiring first step toward a calmer mind. If your personal space is cluttered, that can easily make your mind cluttered as well.
De-cluttering the space will start serving its purpose immediately. You will probably start to feel less overwhelmed all of the time, and you will even start noticing that you are doing exercises more often.
Bring nature closer to you. Add some large terrariums or some succulents that would make the space more welcoming and calming. The green color of the plants has always had that ability. There are some lovely options for you to go through, including a snake plant, English ivy, and Boston fern – they offer a sense of calmness and purify the air.
You can even go a step further and invite the healing powers of mother earth into your home, by adding a few crystal pieces, rocks, and some dried flowers. The flow of air in space will become lighter, and you will be able to feel that.
Colors have always mattered, which is why you need to consider which ones bring calm to you. If you are uncertain of where to begin, think green and think of warm and neutral colors.
And if you’re uncertain, you can always opt for some pastel colors for your yoga house. Peach orange, pastel blue, and soft lavender are the perfect choices if you want to create a calming and loving corner in your home. You need to remember that you should avoid using any harsh colors, such as bright red or yellow, since they can have the opposite effect of calming. They can make you feel anxious and nervous, and we want to avoid feeling that, right?
One of the most important factors in your home design is the lighting. This is what will either make or break the space. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as color therapy, and many yoga studios have started incorporating it into their practices. This is because it activates certain parts of the brain – there is even a lot of science that backs this up!
The red and orange colors can motivate you while you are doing some of the most intensive poses. The pink and the green are excellent when you are doing some deep stretches and more calming poses. And the blue is perfect if you want to go into deep focus and meditation. Carefully choose what type of light you want to add when you are creating your yoga house space. It will set the tone for your entire experience.
Essential oils and candles have always played an important role in every home design project. Naturally, they will find their place in your yoga corner too. One of the most powerful things that people can rely on if they are looking for calmness is the scent. Each of us has noticed at some point that some scents instantly bring back memories we seem to have forgotten about. Well, you can train your mind to do the same whenever you want to relax.
Associating a certain scent with the feeling of relaxation is not an uncommon practice. It has been done for a while now, and people will continue doing it since it has proven to be incredibly powerful. Essential oils and candles are the best way to do that. All you need to do is find a scent that isn’t too strong or overpowering and associate it with a feeling of calmness and well-being. There are even some scents that can directly influence our chakras.
And if you want to take it a step further, you can burn some sage sticks to cleanse the space before you start practicing mindfulness. This is how you will get to enjoy an enlightened space while you do your exercise and meditation.
A yoga house space can be anything from a corner in your bedroom to an entire room dedicated to it. Even though it is a lot easier to place your mat anywhere in your home and practice your mindful exercises, you can get an elevated sense of self once you dedicate a small space to it. Try it out and see how it goes!
