With the Full Moon rising in the sky tomorrow night, here are a few tips to help you amplify your intentions and manifest your goals through intention setting and blockage release. The power of the Full Moon is effective three days before it rises and three days after; however, it’s the most powerful on the night it is full. You can do this inside or outside, you can set up an altar or use the floor.

Sage smudging (or burning) is an ancient practice used by Native Americans to clear and cleanse a space. It has been scientifically proven that sage smoke reduces bacteria and kills germs. During your ritualistic sage burning be sure to focus on positive energy and intentions of transformation and renewal. You can also use Palo Santo, a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America & is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. It’s truly amazing that this “Holy Wood” can at once, through its healing scent and sacred smoke, provide energetic protection, remove bad energy, uplift the spirit, get rid of evil spirits and bring good luck.

Without the Moon, we cannot make use of the Universal Forces beyond her. An altar to the moon should always face the West Quarter. If you’re not performing this ritual outside, find a serene place to sit and turn on some relaxing music. Place crystals or other special items around you. After you have cleared your space, set up your altar or crystal grid (Crystal Grid Workshop). Use different crystals and flowers that speak to you and spark joy. You’ll want to have small candles too, small enough that they will burn out completely (Small 4 Inch Ritual Candles). During the ritual, you’ll need paper and pen -- using red ink helps to increase the power of your words and fills them with boldness and strength.

Think about and reflect on the days since the New Moon (the time of the waxing moon). What thoughts come to mind? What are you ready to let go of? Take time to journal before the Full Moon and to reflect on where you want to set your intentions for the waning moon cycle. Decide on one or two things that you are ready to release and write them on a piece of paper, preferably in a bold color, like red.

When you’re ready, light your candles and have your notes for release close by. Read your notes to yourself and then out loud. After you’ve read them aloud, using a candle, set them on fire, allowing these thoughts to be released and let go of. Hold one corner of the paper over the candle allowing the flame to burn away what you are releasing. Watch the smoke release your intention to the universe. Take a few minutes to meditate and focus your intentions on what you CAN achieve now that you’ve removed what was blocking you.

*If your piece of paper struggles to light or burn, consider if you are really ready to let this go! Only when you are truly willing to let go will the page burn – the faster the flames, the more willing you are to let it go.

Prepare a Himalayan salt bath and meditate and reflect on what you released and what your new intentions are. If you live near an ocean or a lake, go for a swim under the light of the moon. You can even massage your hands in a bowl of salt water and essential oils to complete the ritual and cleanse your spirit.

After you have performed your Full Moon ritual, it’s recommended that you practice yoga (whether at home or in a class), attend a drum circle, or continue journaling about your experience. The more energy and positivity you surround your intentions with, the further they’ll carry you to your goals.

In the center of your altar, place a bowl of saltwater. Set a white seashell in the center of the bowl. As this is done, whisper the name of the goddess who rules the current phase of the Moon, under which you are working.

*The new moon belongs to Diana, the Full Moon to Jana, and the waning Moon to Umbrea.

Around the bottom of the bowl, set nine white shells, forming a crescent (horns upward, as in a smile).

*If the magic is for the gain of something, place the shells from right to left.

*If the magic is for the removal or loss of something, then place the shells from left to right.

As each shell is placed, chant the name of the goddess who presides over the goal of the energetic influence you desire. Take time to meditate on the intentions or the release that you worked with. Journaling is a great way to continue feeding positive energy into your intentions.

Afterwards, remember to energetically clear yourself with a Himalayan salt bath or a dip in the ocean!
