Hello Moonbeams!
May’s Full Moon rises on Thursday, May 7th. This will be the last of the trio of supermoons which began in March. In Pagan tradition, this is the Flower moon because flowers spring forth in abundance this month!
Other names for this moon include Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon, and Corn Planting Moon. May is an absolutely magickal and electric month…beginning with Beltane…fires, flowers, fairies, and love. The air is getting warmer and nature is springing vibrantly to life.
This is a good time for working on commitments, both in spirit and love because the moon is in the deeply intense—go within and sit in the shadows—sign of Scorpio. Water signs are all about swimming through the emotional seas, diving into its cleansing energy, and facing those shadows. Prepare to feel extra emotional, and empaths should take care to protect their deep sensitivity.
The tarot card for Scorpio is the High Priestess—knowing, sitting in meditation, listening to intuition, or visions. In the book “Moon Phase Astrology,” this Full Moon is called the “Priestess’s Moon” because “the Priestess has been down to the darkness and up again into the light. She has dragged herself down the path of deep introspection and learned that the best way out is with the aid of Deeper Powers” Women, already attuned to the moon’s cycles, are pure vessels for Luna’s magical energy.
No matter which Goddess you follow or work with, THIS IS YOUR POWER TIME. (For those who made a crystal “moondala” last cycle, the Flower Moon is a perfect time to add…you got it…flowers).
Ideally, you would be outside under the moon, but if that’s not possible then create your own sacred space/altar. Grace it with seasonal items, crystals, candles, statues, whatever is special to you.
Light your candle, cleanse your space with smudge/oils/incense/herbs to clear away negative energies & welcome in a meditative & sacred space. Smudge yourself and call in the Four Directions, the Four Elements, or any angels, goddesses or guides you wish to support your ritual. Use your intuition and celebrate the divine feminine that dwells inside of you and the moon.
Take pen and paper and write down all you wish to release from your life. One by one say each thing out loud, then set on fire and place in your cauldron. Stand, holding your arms up to the moon, letting the pulsing energy of the goddess Luna permeate your body while her glow cascades enormous blessings over every part of you. Traditionally, women would do this sky clad, or wear minimal clothing to maximize the effects of the moon’s rays. Blessed Be.
