This month brings a rare second new moon in a row in the sign of Cancer, on July 20th. Normally, each sign gets just one new moon of its own each year but, let’s face it: 2020 is turning out to be anything but normal…and what we have is that rare phenomenon of a Double New Moon.
The first New Moon in Cancer happened on June 21st. Still simmering with the energies of the two June eclipses, we embark on a new cycle that hopefully clears the confusion and chaos to help us balance home, family, work, and sanity. The energy at the time of the new (or dark moon as it is a time without moonlight) moon is a prompt to go inside to reflect on how we want to feel in our homes and with our family.
We have the chance to make important changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle.
One of the shadow sides of Cancer, due to its attachment to emotional security, nostalgia, and home (after all crabs carry their home on their back), is that it can get stuck, not wanting to move out of its comfort zone in order to pursue a dream or an ambition.
Sound relevant for you? But wait, with the New Moon falling in the feminine and watery sign of Cancer, the time is ripe for inward reflection. It's time to tap into the divine feminine waters of the Cancer Moon. Most assuredly, our lives are in an intense shifting state that will not end soon. Diving deep into the feminine waters of the Cancer moon we can create our own sanctuary, build our own spiritual practices, and live with compassion.
And as we social distance and wear our masks (the newest compassion statement), we will discover new and beautiful ways to connect with community, humanity, and the rhythms and cycles of the seasons and the moon.

“Put it back again” said Buddha.
The bandit laughed. “You must be crazy to think that anyone can do that.”
“On the contrary, it is you who are crazy to think that you are mighty because you can wound and destroy. That is the task of children. The mighty know how to create and heal.”
