When you participate in a yoga teacher training, one of the primary goals is to teach yoga poses and sequences to your future students effectively. But is there more to a yoga teacher training than just learning about asana? The answer is absolutely yes!

Yoga is much more than just contorting your body into specific poses on a yoga mat. In this article, we’ll give you a sneak peek at some of the tools, lessons, and rituals that will enrich your yoga teaching practice during Full Circle Yoga School’s yoga teacher training. These include but are not limited to intention setting, the Law of Attraction, meditation, Tarot card study, kundalini practices, using mantras, mudras, chanting, and more.

Read on for insight into a few of these powerful practices taught during Full Circle Yoga School’s teacher training program that will transform your life.

More Than Asana

Yoga is a spiritual journey. At Full Circle Yoga School, we have designed our 200-Hour & 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training programs to offer an enlightened pathway along that journey. You will complete your training with the knowledge to teach many yoga poses and sequences you come to love in a yoga class. But the teacher training does not end with learning about asana, the moving practice of yoga.

Asana is a beautiful entryway into the spiritual component of yoga. The postures and sequences allow the practitioner to become more aware of their inner beings: the physical body, the emotional body, the thoughtful body, and the spiritual body. Along with the practice of yoga comes powerful rituals and lessons that will transform your life on and off the yoga mat. Complimentary to the yoga principles are practices like mindful meditation, the Law of Attraction, and intention setting that enhance your spiritual life journey.

The Law of Attraction

Within the Full Circle Yoga School teacher training coursework, you will learn about The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is a life-altering principle that can be taught along with asana on the yoga mat then extended into everyday life.

To understand The Law of Attraction, think of the world you live in like a mirror. It reflects what you project. If you offer positive thoughts and actions into the world, your life is filled with love and abundance.

As a yoga teacher in training, you learn to foster those positive aspects of life. They become integrated into your daily practices: meditation, breathwork, and asana. Then, they ultimately become integrated into your everyday life: how you treat others at work, the way you share with friends and family, and how you care for your environment. All are reflected to you in a prosperous way. These personal life lessons will also become principles you eventually teach your students as a new yoga instructor.

Meditation

Another essential ritual that you will encounter in our Yoga Teacher Training programs is meditation. Along with asana, it is a foundational component in the yoga philosophy. For many, meditation may feel intimidating and inaccessible. But as a budding new yoga teacher, you will be able to offer the gift of meditation that is easily accessible to your students.

In your training, you will learn about and practice mindful meditation. While using the essential resource of breath as the foundation of your meditative practice, you will use the ritual to calm your mind and body. Discover how the meditative practice will help guide you through your training, open your mind to greater possibilities, encourage and enlighten your everyday living. Through the personal practice of this enlightening ritual, you will find ways to integrate it into your daily life. You'll then be able o offer these valuable life lessons to your future students.

Intention Setting

Simply teaching yoga poses and sequences to a classroom full of students lacks the full embodiment of the practice when it has no intention. One of the most potent rituals you'll learn and practice during your teacher training is learning how to set an intention for a yoga class. Doing so creates a richer experience for you and your students.

The poses you teach will embed the outcome, goal, or intention you have set for the practice. For example, "Building Strength" can be an intention you set for a class. Throughout the class, the yoga poses practiced could feature strength-building positions (like Warrior 2 or Plank Pose.) Balancing postures like Tree Pose can build a strong, balanced, and focused mind. Practicing a challenging arm balancing pose like Crow Pose may enhance the strong will to endure other life challenges.

Incorporating an intention into your personal practice helps to pave a clear path toward an empowered life. The curriculum designed by Full Circle Yoga School for our yoga teacher trainings provides opportunities for your development as a yoga teacher, but more importantly, as a human being.
